Mildred Pierce is essentially a cultural criticism zine but goshdarnit if it isn’t so much more than that. We’ve got the usual shark-tooth-sharp commentary on music, literature, art, and the State Of Culture As We Know It; except that, in true MP form, everything is slightly toasted.
MP2: The Medusa Issue features comix, interviews with crazy people like Kevin Bostic who try to debate rightwingers on internet messageboards, columns about cults and the radio, a zine within a zine, an attack on Born N Breds in the form of a one-act absurdist play, an Anthropologie catalog deconstruction, and a call for the revival of the plagiarist aesthetic. Yeah, your mind is blown. Contact us at mildredpiercezine@gmail.com to order your copy NOW!
Mildred Pierce is edited by Megan Milks and John Bylander. Want to contribute? We are always on the lookout for TOTALLY RAD, creative textual and visual work. Shoot us an email to run something by us. Issue Three is already in the works, so GET ON IT!
The Salt Lake City Public Library would like to purchase a copy of Mildred Pierce Vols. 1 and 2. However, we need your snail mail address to send the check to you. We also need your name as we can’t send the check to the name of your zine. If this sounds okay to you, please email me the info and we’ll send you the check asap.
Thanks! — Mary Anne Heider, Librarian

HI
I am currently writing a dissertation thesis in my final year at university in England. I am writing on the ideological significance of Campbell’s soup advertising in the period 1941-1945- looking at images of the home and the housewife. I plan to lead into a discussion of Warhol’s subversion of this with his 1960’s pop art.
However I would like to use Mildred Pierce as a bridge into this- a representation of a woman who moved into the public sphere. Can you tell me why you chose her name for your site and what she represents to you? Any other ideas also welcome as soon as possible! With Thanks
